Stevens County Sheriff's Office

An 11-foot-wide metal object found in a Stevens County cornfield Wednesday may be space debris. Authorities in the west-central Minnesota county say it poses no danger to the public, but they are still working to determine what it is and who owns it.

The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office says deputies went to the Scott Township field after receiving a call around 3:30 p.m. The Minnesota Duty Officer was notified, and federal agencies came to the site.

The sheriff’s office is coordinating with state and federal officials to identify the object, contact its owner, and arrange to have it removed.
