Today marks the inaugural Minnesota Local News Day. Why does Minnesota need its own day? Because our news and media environment here is special.

Across the country, many places don’t have a newsroom or reporters to dig into the issues happening around town. But here in Minnesota, there are many sources to get your news fix — which is part of what makes our state so great, if you ask me. From the smaller newsrooms like MinnPost to bigger ones like Minnesota Public Radio, we are all providing essential reporting on what happens in our communities.

Today, MinnPost is hoping to raise $4,000 to support our newsroom and finish April on budget. Will you make a donation right now to help us get there?
