At least five people died in motorcycle crashes across Minnesota over the weekend.

Two people died Friday night when their motorcycle collided with a Metro Micro bus at an intersection in Bloomington.

It happened at about 8:20 p.m. along Sheridan Avenue South at 106th Street. Authorities said the bus was traveling north on Sheridan when it collided with the motorcycle traveling east on 106th.

Metro Transit police said the operator of the motorcycle, 23-year-old Joshua Owen Ruedy, and a passenger, 59-year-old Jacqueline Rae Maines — both of Bloomington — died from their injuries.

The driver of the bus and a passenger suffered minor injuries. The Metro Transit Police Department is investigating.

On Saturday afternoon in Olmsted County, two people — a 63-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman — died when their motorcycle collided with a truck at an intersection southwest of Rochester.

That crash happened at about 3:45 p.m. along Salem Road Southwest at 60th Avenue Southwest. The crash remains under investigation; the names of the people who died have not been released.

On Sunday evening in Steele County, the State Patrol said an 83-year-old man died when his motorcycle went off westbound U.S. Highway 14. The crash happened at about 5:20 p.m., east of Owatonna.

The victim was identified as Richard Dean Bedney of Byron. The Patrol said there were no other vehicles involved in the crash; road conditions were wet at the time.
