Metro Transit is planning a new route — the H Line — that will connect downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul’s East Side via rapid bus. Residents on Como Ave. are a bit concerned what that will mean for them and their neighborhood, but Metro Transit is standing firm on the route for now.

A Union Pacific train derailed in Savage on Sunday evening. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, so we can all just take a look at a crazy picture of empty train cars off the track with a clear conscience.

Hockey already has one of the highest barriers to entry of any youth sport in terms of cost, and now the administration’s 50% tariffs on goods from Canada — where a lot of hockey equipment is … harvested, I think — is driving the prices up even higher. A goalie’s helmet that was $400 in 2022 is now $1,000, and that’s before you consider the cost for a sweet paint job.

With two months to go before the election, Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s campaign holds the fundraising advantage over Rep. Lisa Demuth with $3.44 million to Demuth’s $544,000, but an out-of-state PAC called Restore Sanity is working to make up the difference in the governor’s race, having put $2.6 million into the GOP campaign, mostly in advertising. Restore Sanity is funded by top Trump donor, Richard Uihlein, the founder of Uline.

With the State Fair wrapped up for 2026, one of the more enjoyable ways to relive it is through these portraits of fairgoers by Mike Madison, aka Bump Opera. Also at the State Fair, DFL candidate for the 2nd District Matt Little attempted to break the world record for most handshakes in eight hours but was shut down by Fair officials for “interfering” with the State Fair experience. Pity, since Little was on pace to shatter then-Gov. Bill Richardson’s record of 13,392 at the New Mexico State Fair in 2002.
