Why this midterm matters for Minnesota

minnpost news midterm minnesota

A midterm shift in the balance of power in Washington, D.C. could impact Minnesota in a number of ways.

My job as the Washington D.C. Correspondent for MinnPost is to track how actions in the nation’s capital impact Minnesota. In my midterm reporting this fall I hope to explain how the outcome of this pivotal election will produce policy changes affecting Minnesotans and identify the goals and ambitions of the new members of Minnesota’s congressional delegation.

My busy beat as MinnPost’s Washington correspondent during a Republican trifecta has included federal government actions directed at Minnesota, including Operation Metro Surge, cuts to federal programs like Medicaid and food stamps and White House allegations of fraud in state government.

This fall and in the weeks ahead, I hope to explain how the outcome of this pivotal election could affect our state. I also want to make sure that ahead of voting, readers like you have a clear understanding of Minnesota candidates’ goals and ambitions in running for U.S. House and Senate.

I love working for MinnPost and being part of a talented, supportive and dedicated group of journalists. And it’s a privilege to write for our politically savvy readers.

I would not be able to do it without the generosity of our readers. Will you make a donation today to support this work?
