Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, FBI Director Kash Patel and other top Trump administration officials are expected to travel to St. Cloud on Friday to make what the administration says is a fraud announcement.
Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and Federal Trade Commission Chair Andrew Ferguson, vice chair of the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud are also expected to attend.
Vice President JD Vance, who chairs the task force, was scheduled to attend but canceled late Thursday.
President Donald Trump formed the task force in March, citing fraud in Minnesota social services programs. The administration announced a national $25 million program last week to reward whistleblowers who report government fraud.
Since 2022, state and federal prosecutors in Minnesota have charged more than 100 people with defrauding government social service programs with much of that work centered around the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme.
The Trump administration cited fraud as justification for surging thousands of federal immigration agents into Minnesota last winter. However, no one arrested during the winter operation was charged with fraud.
